Research
A careful study must be completed of the golf course. The research
process includes the study of original plans and notes, chronological
aerial photographs, old photographs and familiarization with other
classic works by the original architect.
The historical plan of the course is carefully studied and reviewed
for comparison with the existing course.
Individual hole sketches with the original architect’s
ideas.
Old aerial photography is particularly helpful in restoration
work as it will highlight the evolution of the course. Quite often,
excess tree cover and bunker changes are easily discovered.
Old photographs help in the study of the original golf course.
